Northern Lights?

Northern Lights?

While we won't know the exact forecast for the Northern Lights until a bit closer to travel time, we do know that the moon will be at 0% on October 2! With low humidity also forecast, we should have great viewing conditions. Most of Wyoming is a "Dark Sky" state but the school is fairly close to Jackson which has quite a bit of light based on this map: https://www.darkskymap.com/map

From looking at the map, we shouldn't have any direct light due to a hill but this will mean more light at night reflecting off clouds. Still, there should be decent conditions for viewing the Northern lights!

As for the electromagnetic forecast, you can check here for the latest: https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/aurora-viewline-tonight-and-tomorrow-night-experimental

They only predict 48 hours in advance so check back at trip time for an idea of the odds of seeing a light show!
